The Butterfly Visitor
On Friday our class got to see a Monarch butterfly. We saw caterpillars, eggs, and a Chrysalis too. Mrs. Hinshaw brought them to look at and teach us about the butterfly life cycle. She even showed us how to catch a butterfly by using our fingers like pinchers on their wings so we don't hurt them. She left the butterfly, caterpillars, and the eggs here. We are waiting on the caterpillars to make chrysalis and turn into butterflies and then we will let them go.

ReplyDeleteWe got to release 3 butterflies. It was fun. We learned that monarch caterpillars only eat milkweed. The girls don't have dots on the inside of their wings, but boy monarchs do. The butterflies ate juice from sweet fruit and drink nectar from flowers. We learned about them last month.

ReplyDeleteWe didn't get to hold the butterfly but we got to feel it's legs. They were sticky, scratchy, and a little ticklish.
